Looking for 4th of July fireworks? The Northshore will have many celebrations across the parish on and before the big day, from big festivals in community parks to backyard cook-outs with the fam. Local towns, community sponsors and volunteers come together to celebrate the USA and Americana itself with loads of music, food and fun, and the big finale, fireworks!
Find your spark at these 2024 community festivals in Slidell, Covington, Madisonville, Mandeville, Abita Springs and Pearl River.
Slidell Heritage Festival
- Saturday, June 29, 4-11 p.m.
- Heritage Park, 1701 Bayou Lane, Slidell
- Admission: $15 for ages 13 and up, free for age 12 and under
- This annual summertime blowout features live music, along with food vendors, games and inflatables for the kids, arts and crafts booths, and fireworks at 9 p.m.
Sparks in the Park
- Saturday, June 29, 5:30-9:30 p.m.
- Bogue Falaya Wayside Park, 213 Park Drive, Covington
- Admission: Free
- Bring your lawn chairs, picnic baskets, blankets for an evening of all-American, old-fashioned fun. Picnics and beverages are welcome, but feel free to leave the cooler at home: six food trucks will be on hand, as well as local charities selling hot dogs, hamburgers, jambalaya, drinks and adult beverages. Entertainments include a hot dog eating contest, face-painting, kids’ activities, DJ music, and vendors with homemade apple pies and jellies and patriotic gifts for purchase. The evening ends with a bang, when the Covington Concert Band will perform patriotic sounds cued to the fireworks for a breathtaking experience for all the senses.
Light Up the Lake Independence Day Celebration
- Wednesday, July 3, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Lakeshore Drive Park, Mandeville
- Admission: Free
- The 10th annual event features picnicking all day along the Mandeville lakefront, with evening events featuring a parade, patriotic tribute and live music by Tyler Kinchen and The Right Pieces. at the entertainment stage, located between Coffee and Carroll Streets. Food trucks, kids' tent, photo booth and fireworks show at dusk over Lake Pontchartrain. Parade starts at 5 p.m., entertainment at 6 p.m., fireworks at 8:30 p.m.

Pearl River Independence Day Celebration
- Saturday, June 29, 5-9:30 p.m.
- Downtown Pearl River by Town Hall, 39460 Willis Alley, Pearl River
- Admission: Free
- Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and the whole family for small town fun at this annual festival, kicking off with an opening ceremony at 5 p.m. Lawn games, pie eating contest and more. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
Madisonville Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration
- Thursday, July 4, 10 a.m. to dusk
- Tchefuncte Riverfront and Town Hall, 403 Saint Francis St, Madisonville
- Admission: Free
- Madisonville’s annual day of family fun starts with a veterans’ salute and offers lots of opportunities to play and celebrate summer, with kids’ games, cornhole and horseshoe tournaments, watermelon eating and rooster crowing contests, a pie bake-off, and fireworks at dusk. Bring your chairs, coolers and picnic baskets and find a spot on the riverfront to enjoy the fun.
Olde Towne Slidell 4th of July Celebration
- Thursday, July 4, 12-9 p.m.
- Carey, Cousin and Robert Streets in Slidell
- Admission: Free
- Put on your red, white and blue and bring your lawn chairs and dancing shoes for a day of celebration in Olde Towne. Enjoy great food, cooling zones, kids activities, a hot dog eating contest, apple pie baking contest and live music in three locations all afternoon. And don't forget the big finalé: fireworks at dusk.
Abita Springs 4th of July Celebration of Community
- Thursday, July 4, 2-9:30 p.m.
- Abita Springs Trailhead Park, 22044 Main St, Abita Springs
- Admission: Free
- Bring chairs, blankets, family and friends (but leave the picnic baskets at home) for Americana in Abita. Gulf Coast Classic Cruisers host a car show, live music, face painting for the kids, food and drink vendors, the Abita Beer truck, and fireworks at 9 p.m.
